I am an engineer, writer, and science communicator specializing in fluid dynamics. As a PhD student, I created the popular fluid dynamics blog FYFD, which I now run full-time. In 2014, I completed my PhD in aerospace engineering at Texas A&M University studying the effects of surface roughness on hypersonic aerodynamics. I earned my Master’s degree from Cornell University studying subsonic turbulence and completed my undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University, also in aerospace engineering.
Currently, I reside with my husband Joseph Shoer in Denver, Colorado, where we enjoy playing board games, hiking, skiing, and cycling.
